First Things First
The NFL had a wild weekend! It retained two unbeaten teams and also featured the Chiefs beating the Steelers and the Browns and Lions playing the most exciting game of the week. However, they also subjected a national audience to a replay that featured a moonshot. For the sake of your collective innocence, I’ll only link to the freeze frame of said snafu. I saw it live and was wondering if they replay boys previewed the clip beforehand. Crazy.
The Hiawatha leagues are winding down and injuries are taking their toll. With a bunch of #1 RBs betting banged up, many teams are grasping at straws for their playoff run.
In the League of Champions, Grandma Nancy lost Michael Turner for the week, of course her other RBs are Ricky Williams and Thomas Jones. Would he be able to withstand Russ’ attack? And could anyone be unlucky enough to tie twice in a season? Scores:
The Phantom Limbs (Peter) – 83
Silver Fox (Aaron) – 78
Pacifist Assassins (John) – 96
Taking Chances (Wayne) – 96
Grandma Nancy (Tyler) – 99
Russ’ Rowdy Rhinos (Russ) – 107
Mightiest Muffins (Mike) – 108
The Tortilla Chips (Darren) – 96
The Bone Doctors (Chris W.) – 88
FAIL Team (Andy) – 82
Noxious Fumes (Eric) – 107
The Alchemists (Chris T.) – 66
The epic battle between the top two teams lived up to the hype! Russ topped Grandma by 8 points, using Wes Welker’s big game to make up for Ricky Williams’ HUGE Thursday night game. With that win, the Rhinos are the second team to clinch a playoff spot. Elsewhere, Taking Chances tied the Assassins giving Wayne two ties on the year! The Muffins came up with a huge win over the Chips, moving them into the #6 spot (though tenuously)! The Bone Doctors managed a come from behind win over the FAIL Team, the Limbs edged out Silver Fox and the Fumes decimated the Alchemists (who got donuts from two of their WRs).
Current LoC Standings:
|*2.||Russ’ Rowdy Rhinos||8-3-0||.727||1069||W-3||$37||15|
|4.||The Phantom Limbs||6-4-1||.591||931||W-3||$53||12|
|5.||The Tortilla Chips||6-5-0||.545||1038||L-2||$60||8|

In the Premier League, last week’s team of the week looked for a 2nd upset in a row and the final playoff spot is still up for grabs. Here are your scores:
Monday Night (Phil) – 82
Beer Boys (Hyatt) – 93
diddy (Jim) – 92
Killer Canaries III (Bob) – 88
Marshmallow Mateys (Cory) – 109
Mighty Nimrods (Tom) – 73
Dead Heads (Nate) – 78
KRUG Kommanders (Denny & Isaac) – 66
Egon’s Ego (Bernt) – 99
Wyld Stallyns CS (Dave) – 107
Stalins of Style (Chris A.) – 102
Kibbles & Vick (Frank) – 114
The Canaries came within 4 points of completing the “Top Tier Two-Step”, falling to diddy. The Mateys were obviously playing angry after their defeat last week, beating up on the Nimrods. The Stallyns avoided a 5th consecutive loss by topping Egon in a high scoring affair. Another high scoring affair was between Stalins and Kibbles with Frank taking the victory and securing a playoff spot! The 6th spot is still back and forth. With Phil losing a heartbreaker to Hyatt, the game between the Dead Heads and KRUG took on more significance. Nate’s win bumps him to the 5th spot and KRUG is tied with Monday Night and Wyld at 5-6. Phil’s points lead is shaky at best. Next week will feature the juggernaut grudge match between diddy and Mateys for sole possession of first place!
Premier League Standings:
Russ’ Rowdy Rhinos, for beating the team with the best record in the universe at their own game! Russ put up 107 and made Grandma cry. The Rhinos roster is built around the Jacksons (DeSean, Vincent and Steven), but it was Welker monster game that pushed him to a win! Way to go Russ! Could this have been an LoC Super Bowl preview?
