2010 – Week 2

First Things First

Sometimes a small change can really make a difference. Brett Favre’s less-than-stellar play thus far has been attributed to rustiness and missing Sidney Rice, but could it actually be the new pants!? Go back to the Wranglers, Brett! Elsewhere, replacement players were all over the place on Sunday. Brandon Jackson, Michael Vick, Jason Snelling and Mike Tolbert saw some significant action thanks to injuries and all left their marks on their games. And just because an opposing player throws his helmet into the stands doesn’t mean you can be a caveman about it.
In the Hiawatha Leagues this week, changes came into play all over the place. Waiver dollars were flying all over the place as teams tried to tweak their lineups from Week 1 and acquire the promising injury replacements. Would any of these changes translate to wins? Would any end up being counter-productive?? We shall see…

League of Champions
In the LoC, high scoring teams from last week kept up the pace while some games were so close we could easily have had two ties! Here are your scores:
The Phantom Limbs – 121
Super-Lative Muffins – 105
Russ’ Rowdy Rhinos – 82
KRUG Kommander – 113
Wyld Stallyns – 87
Beer Boys – 87
we’re coming! – 77
Reckless Abandon – 81
Nana Nancy Unit – 88
OMG Ponies!!!! – 87
diddy – 60
Marshmallow Mateys – 77
Our first tie of the year came as the Stallyns couldn’t get one more point out of Colston on MNF. Nancy pulled out a 1 point win over Ponies, both of whom had big hitting player on MNF! diddy was the victim of a -1 point performance from Vince Young which put him in the cellar at 0-2. After a week of general panic over a thin RB corps, KRUG crossed the century mark thanks to 30 points from LeSean McCoy! The Muffins scored over 100 for the 2nd straight week, but lost to the Limbs and their retooled lineup (which included new faces like Mike Vick and $27 waiver pickup Brandon Jackson). The Steelers defense’s 28 points didn’t hurt the Limbs either!  Reckless squeaked by we’re coming and went to 2-0 on the year.

Premier League

Momentum swings were the rule in the PL this week. Underperforming teams from last week stormed back while heavy hitters idled. Parity reins! Here are the scores:

Carl’s Moustache – 111
winners – 65
Monday Night – 70
Careless Blimpists – 71
The Cutlass Cieras – 112
Pacifist Assassins – 80
Blackhearts – 92
The Alchemist – 87
Zack Attack – 85
Tony Danza Dominates – 111
Nerd Herd – 64
Fumblecopter – 70
Monday Night snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in losing by a single point to the Blimpists. Things were looking good for Phil until the Colts fumbled the ball late Sunday night and Eli Manning threw a TD in garbage time to give the Blimpists a win (despite his two stud RBs from last week combining for only 14 points instead of 67). Tony Danza danced his way past Zack attack thanks to almost 500 passing yards for Schaub. Carl’s Moustache only scored 53 points in week one, but bounced back with 111 this week to beat winners.

Team of the Week
It’s a tie! How fitting!
tn48.png?ciA0LyMBq0C8yisw
The Cutlass Cieras righted their season after a rough week one, scoring 112 points to take down the Assassins (who’ve had two tough losses in a row). The Cieras often lament that their team was auto-drafted, but this week proved that they are no slouch!

Carl’s Moustache for his big turnaround from week 1 to week 2. 53 points in week one and 111 in week 2! That kind of coaching is in short supply in the league. In fact, maybe Carl’s Moustache should consider switching places with another moustached coach whose team desperately needs new life. Great job, Aaron!
Until next week,
Commish Peter
