2010 – Week 3

First Things First

Sometimes all the confidence in the world isn’t enough. Just ask this guy. Or ask the 49ers, who came into the year with a lot of confidence and buzz and were dropped to 0-3 on Sunday with a loss to the now 3-0 KC Chefs. Ouch. Or you could ask the Careless Blimpists, but we’ll get to that in a moment.
League of Champions
In the LoC, you didn’t have to go far to find points with 5 teams topping 100 this week. Two of those teams came into Monday night tied at 100 each. In fact, MNF was a big factor in many of the games thanks to two hot undefeated teams being featured in the tilt. Here are your scores:
The Phantom Limbs – 115
Wyld Stallyns – 103
Russ’ Rhino Revenge – 106
Super-lative Muffins – 82
we’re coming – 114
Beer Boys – 83
Nana Nancy Unit – 91
Reckless Abandon – 78
diddy – 90
OMG Ponies!!!! – 83
Marshmallow Mateys – 85
KRUG Kommander – 103
The Beer Boys have had some break go against them this year. They are now 0-2-1 on the season and have had 331 points scored against them in 3 weeks. Rough. The Muffins looked strong in the first two weeks, but took a step back this week against Russ’ Rhinos. Nana Nancy handed Reckless his first loss on the year (thanks to a strong game from Tony Gonzalez). diddy was the beneficiary of a huge game from Anquan Boldin and got into the win column by edging out the Ponies. The Limbs and Stallyns were tied at 100 going into MNF, but Jennings and Gould trumped Forte and the Limbs remained undefeated. The battle of two 2-0 teams broke in favor of KRUG! Denny used big games from Rodgers and Maclin to hand the Mateys loss #1 on the year.

We’re down to two undefeated teams!

Premier League
In the Premier League, only two teams broke 100, but one broke 150! This is the second time that a team has scored 150+ in the PL this year and (funny) the first team to do it was playing the 2nd team to do it. Here are your scores:
Carl’s Moustache – 155
Careless Blimpists – 78
Monday Night – 82
Cutlass Cieras – 98
Blackhearts – 108
Pacifist Assassins – 80
Zack Attack – 79
The Alchemist – 81
Nerd Herd – 87
Tony Danza Dominates – 78
Fumblecopter – 92
quitters (formerly “winners”) – 59
Carl’s Moustache notched 155 points to beat the Blimpists!! Crazy! Each of Carl’s starters scored double digits this week. Not much you can do against that. The Blackhearts are now the only undefeated team remaining in the PL, after beating up on the Assassins. It’s amazing how well the rookie has performed so far this year! You though the Beer Boys had tough luck, the Assassins have had 373 points scored against them in 3 weeks! Youch! Tom’s quitters are still finding points to be hard to come by and ran into a tough opponent this week in Fumblecopter. The closest game of the week was Zack vs. The Alchemist (which sounds like a young adults novel). The Alchemist came away with a 2 point victory after Matt Forte couldn’t do enough to get Zack a W. The Cieras have a 2 game win streak after beating Monday Night and the Nerd Herd took down Tony Danza in another close game.

There’s that rookie sitting up there all by himself. The target on your back only gets bigger, Jon.

Team of the Week
Mustache.JPGI can’t give it to the rookie! This award is going to Carl’s Moustache! After putting up 155 points this week, Aaron wondered what the actual points record is in Hiawatha Fantasy Football. Well, I did some digging. You’ll remember in week one the Blimpists put up 153, which was amazing too. But the actual record for points scored in a week is 158. Back in the inaugural 2007 season, Hiawatha played in one big 14 team league. That year, two teams put up 158 points in separate weeks. Phil’s team scored 158 on the back of Brett Favre (of the Packers) and a promising rookie named Adrian Peterson. Jim’s team put up 158 thanks to LaDainian Tomlinson with help from TO (who caught 15 TDs that year) and Randy Moss (who caught 23 TDs in the Pats undefeated season). Jim’s strong squad ending up winning the title that year. So there you have it. 155 is good, but the bar is at 158. Still, great game, Aaron!

Housekeeping

The bye weeks begin this week! If you have players from Dallas, Minnesota, Kansas City or Tampa Bay, make sure you have your roster ready for substitutions!

Until Next Week,
Commish Peter
