2010 – Week 6

First Things First

derp_o_GIFSoup.com_.gif

Well, the Vikes pulled out a win over the criminally inept Cowboys this week, but Brett Favre’s most replayed highlight will no doubt be this shot he took in practice. Of course, the highlight is even better when you add The SimpsonsThe Vikes will head to Lambeau next Sunday night to challenge the beaten up Packers. Huge game for both teams!
The NFL had some epic overtime games this week and Hiawatha FFL had some pretty epic finishes as well. But could the only undefeated team keep the streak alive for a sixth week?

League of Champions
The LoC had three teams in the upper tier and one of them would fall this week thanks to a rough Monday night game. Here are your scores:
The Phantom Limbs (Peter) – 121
diddy (Jim) – 89
Russ’ Rhino Revenge (Russ) – 89
Nana Nancy Unit (Tyler) – 99
Super-lative Muffins (Mike) – 105
we’re coming (Wayne) – 59
Wyld Stallyns (Dave) – 73
KRUG Kommander (Denny) – 69
Marshmallow Mateys (Cory) – 103
Beer Boys (Hyatt) – 66
OMG Ponies!!! (Nate) – 83
Reckless Abandon (Darren) – 63
KRUG was down 10 going into Vince Young’s game Monday night and things were looking good, but VY fumbled the ball and sprained his knee on his second drive ending his night. The Kommander ended up with a 4 point loss. Ouch! The Mateys got another big win over Beer Boys to move to 5-1 and the Limbs put up 121 points to stay undefeated and become the scoring leader in both leagues! The Muffins look to be getting back into form after beating up on we’re coming this week. It was a close game between Nana and the Rhinos, but Nancy’s patience with Dwayne Bowe paid off this week with a win. And the Ponies climbed out of the cellar with a solid win over Reckless! That means that the logjam in the standings is now at 2-4, where 5 teams reside. Plus, there are still two teams at 2-3-1! Which of these teams will pull together and muscle their way into the playoffs?

Unbelievable! A truly epic finish! Blackhearts started the year 3-0 and have now lost 3 in a row. Elsewhere, the Cieras tallied 115 points to destroy the quitters and move to 4-2 on the year. The Assassins got their third win in a row by beating the previously strong Fumblecopter. Monday Night managed a slim win over Nerd Herd, who have now lost three in a row. Tony Danza’s recent domination continued as he won his 3rd straight over The Alchemist by 8. And finally, Carl’s Moustache moved to 5-1 with a win over Zack Attack. He maintains his position at the top of the standings. Five teams are now 3-3 and it’s anybody’s guess who will emerge from the pack.

Team of the Week
Phantom_limb_02.jpgIt was bound to happen. The Phantom Limbs are your team of the week! The Commish’s team has now scored 613 points, averaging >100 each week. This week they won despite Antonio Gates scoring only 1 point before getting injured. With a roster including Ray Rice, Greg Jennings, Calvin Johnson, Mike Vick and Gates, they look like a strong contender for the crown. With the 5-1 Mateys coming to town this week though, we will see if the Limbs can keep the streak alive!

Housekeeping

There will be some very key players missing this week when these four teams are on their byes: Detroit, Indianapolis, New York Jets and Houston. Injuries seem to be piling up as well, including this vicious hit that gave both players a concussion and gave DeSean Jackson memory loss. Ouch! The waiver wires are sure to be buzzing this week. With both leagues showing tight clusters of teams, anyone has the chance to make the right moves and climb into good playoff seeding.

Until Next Week,
Commish Peter
