Well, the Vikings’ goose appears to be cooked, but Chilly is still hanging in there. I have to say, it’s infuriating to see a talented team descend into stupid drama and lackluster on-field performance. The pattern just keeps repeating: if we win – Brett feels pretty good, Chilly may have saved his job, etc. If we lose – Brett was kinda, sorta hurt and Chilly might be fired tomorrow. Give me a break. I like real drama, like this shot:
League of Champions
We have our first playoff-bound team! And two streaks stay alive (one good and one not-so-good). Scores:
The Phantom Limbs (Peter) – 117
Beer Boys (Hyatt) – 103
Russ’ Rhino Revenge (Russ) – 146
Reckless Abandon (Darren) – 97
Super-lative Muffins (Mike) – 100
OMG Ponies!!!! (Nate) – 96
Wyld Stallyns (Dave) – 96
Marshmallow Mateys (Cory) – 49
we’re coming! (Wayne) – 65
diddy (Jim) – 93
Nana Nancy Unit (Tyler) – 87
KRUG Kommander (Denny) – 79
The Limbs have clinched the playoffs! Trailing by 22 going into Monday night, the Limbs deployed MVP candidate Michael Vick – who unleashed (get it?) 49 points to kill off (get it???) the Beer Boys. The Beer Boys have had some tough luck this year. Speaking of high scoring, Russ’ Revenge put up a whopping 146 this week to beat a strong Reckless squad. Russ got double digits from everyone but his TE and DEF. The Ponies were down by 1 going into Monday Night and had the Washington defense to go. It looked like a sure win. Of course, Vick happened and the Ponies defense took them backwards to the tune of -3 points and an improbable loss to the Muffins. The Stallyns are celebrating the birth of a son and their 6th straight win after beating the previously tough Mateys handily. Diddy notched his 3rd win of the season with a good showing to beat we’re coming!. And it seems that KRUG just can’t BUY a win right now. He lost to Nancy on a week when Nancy neglected to start a QB (Matt Ryan and his 24 points were on the bench). That’s cold.
Current LoC Standings:
As you can see, the Limbs have clinched the playoffs (which are less than a month away now) and have now scored over 1000 points on the year!
Mike Vick was winning games in both leagues this week. And another team has clinched a playoff spot! Here are your scores:
Carl’s Moustache (Aaron) – 60
The Alchemists (Chris T.) – 59
Monday Night (Phil) – 75
Pacifist Assassins (John) – 123
Careless Blimpists (Chris A.) – 115
Tony Danza Dominates (Eric) – 124
The Cutlass Cieras (Chris W.) – 149
Fumblecopter (Andy) – 99
Blackhearts (Jon) – 53
Nerd Herd (Bob) – 110
Zack Attack (Bernt) – 89
quitters (Tom) – 92
The Cieras were the recipients of Vick’s 49 points in the PL. Those points, combined with Lesean McCoy’s 15, gave them a come-from-behind win over last week’s HFFUBTotW Fumblecopter. See how the award can put a target on your back? Fumblecopter remains the highest scoring team in either league, but I think they would have preferred a win. Carl’s Moustache barely survived his tussle with the Alchemist, but pulled off a 1 point win and clinched a playoff spot! Coming up fast, however, are the Assassins – who won again this week over Monday Nigh and put up 123 points. In the last four weeks, they’ve averaged 117.75 points per game. Scary. It was a shootout between Tony Danza and the Blimpists, but Danza came out on top by 9. The quitters climbed out of the basement spot this week and sent their opponent down there with a 3 point win over Zack Attack. And the story of the week! Nerd Herd snapped a 6 game losing streak in violent fashion, beating Blackhearts by 57 points! Tom Brady came through in a big was for the Nerds and Peyton Manning had an off game for the ‘Hearts.
Current PL Standings:
There’s definitely momentum building at the top of the standings. The playoffs look like they will be very evenly matched!
