Embarrassment. There are plenty of times when a fantasy football manager feels it and there are plenty of plays that NFL players should feel embarrassed about. But none more so than having a breakaway punt return TD taken away by the punter:

WHAT A TACKLE!! Do you think the Vikings are considering trading for Steve Weatherford as a defensive back? I kid, most of the current talk about the Vikings has been aimed at the QB. They won’t make a change, but this guy seems good at lining up under center and keeping his cool:

But on to the really good stuff.
The top team took a fall this week and we now have one team in sole possession of 1st place. Let’s take a look at the scores:
The Phantom Limbs (Peter) – 93
Bye Week (Matt) – 101
Blitzkrieg Bops (Mark) – 152
Rüssnôçérôse (Russ) – 66
Beer Boys (Hyatt) – 92
Wyld Stallyns (Dave) – 62
Fumblecopter (Andy) – 42
Unstoppable Machine (Tom) – 87
Cutlass Cieras RIP (Chris W.) – 70
Marshmallow Mateys (Cory) – 113
The Hit-Men (John) – 101
The Alchemist III (Chris T.) – 71
Lightning in a Bottle (Wayne) – 84
Lucha Libre Horrible (Nate) – 84
So the top story is…. we had a tie!! Lightning and Lucha dueled it out to a draw this weekend after a combination of over and under-performances from their top players. Eli Manning’s measly 4 points took the win away from Lucha on this one. Tough season for Nate’s squad so far. He may need a hug.

The other big story was at the top of the standings. The Limbs were projected for a win, but Bye Week is deceptively strong and they took this game by 8 points behind Rodgers and Decker. Bye Week only has 3 wins this year, but 2 are against the Limbs and the Hit-Men. The other top team didn’t slow down like the Limbs did. The Bops exploded for 152 against Russ’ team. Doug Martin had the biggest individual performance in recent history, putting up 51 points. If Mark pulled all his players except Martin and the Chargers D, he still would have won here. Scary. The Hit-Men kept their scoring barrage going with 101 points against The Alchemist. Their 3rd straight win puts them firmly in 2nd place. Unstoppable Machine sits in 3rd after finally snapping their losing streak with a win against the completely undermanned Fumblecopter (42 points? Ugh). And the Beer Boys kept the Stallyns humble with a 30 point win while the Mateys seem to have found some mojo! After winning the HFFUBTotW award last week, they responded with a 113 point outburt and a big win over the Cieras! They’re comin’!

As we turn our attention to the PL, let me remind you that when we left off last week, Tyler was the only unbeaten team out of all 28 teams in the league and Bernt was the only winless team out of all 28! All that has changed. Scores:
Pulp Extrapolation (Chris A.) – 138
you want more juice? (Aaron) – 92
Gyro Gearloose (Bernt) – 84
Blackhearts (Jon) – 58
The Dominators (Spencer) – 56
diddy (Jim) – 86
The Matchless Muffins (Mike) – 69
WHAT!? (Eric) – 110
Purple Pride (Carl) – 102
Nerd Herd (Bob) – 61
El Tigre Chino (Darren) – 80
KRUG Kommandant (Denny) – 119
Nana Nancy (Tyler) – 80
phillywindsurfin (Phil) – 113
So there you have it! The mighty one has fallen! Tyler’s 8 game winning streak to start the year has ended at the hands of Phil. Tyler runs was punctuated by a few close calls, but he really hadn’t been challenged in 3 weeks. Phil used Adrian Peterson’s big game to run away with this one! Huzzah! Tyler is human! Meanwhile, Bernt held the Blackhearts to 58 points and scored 94. Carry the 2 and that comes out to a win for Bernt’s team, their first of the year! Congrats, Bernt! Just when the league thought that they could push you around:

The hottest team in the PL right now is diddy, who beat the weak performing Dominators this week for his 4th straight win! KRUG is looking stout as well, crushing El Tigre handily this week and holding sole possession of 2nd place at the moment. Eric’s team had a good outing as well this week, putting Brandon Marshall to good use in clobbering the Muffins. Purple Pride ran away with his game against the Nerd Herd. And the recipient of the PL Doug Martin Points Bonanza was Pulp Extrapolation. Aaron’s team could NOT have seen this coming. Interestingly, both Mark in the LoC and Chris in the PL has the same RB tandem of Rice and Martin, which could bode well for this stretch runs.

Gyro Gearloose!!! Bernt’s team wins this week by virtue of finally getting that elusive first win of the season in week 9. His shot at the playoffs is long gone, but his shot at a spot in the LoC next year is definitely in play. He is in third place in the PL pick ’em standings and he could still sneak into the toilet bowl and get a streak going. Eew.
Speaking of the Toilet Bowl, there are only 4 regular season games left!! Also, the trade deadline is 11/16, so only a week and a half away. So the next month is crunch time! Let’s see what you can do! Just be careful. You don’t want to be the guy that looks back and says “What was I thinking!?”

Until Next Week,
Commish Peter
