It’s become a total cliche at this point, but QB play is kind of important for NFL teams. These days, there are probably 12-13 real starter-quality QBs in the NFL, which means that over half the league has less than that quality starting every week. And now this year, a number of those quality starters have been dinged up and missed games (and I’m not even counting Matt Cassel). Last night, Aaron Rodgers got hurt in the first quarter and was out for the game (now confirmed to be a broken collarbone). The Bears (without Cutler) took advantage and won! Crazy. On Sunday, Tom Brady finally got on track and keyed a huge victory for the Pats. He also generated my favorite Tom Brady picture OF ALL TIME!
Who threw 400 yards and 4 TDs? “I did!”
RG3 is probably one of the quality starters, and he can make the ball do crazy things. Like change direction in midair! Which isn’t always a good thing.
How about Andy Dalton? Borderline guy probably, but his offensive line won the game in OT on Thursday. Of course, they won it for the Dolphins…
And when you’re the winless Bucs, you’ll let ANYONE throw ANY pass just to see what happens. How about backup RB Mike James with this IDIOTIC TD pass?
Just wild. Tons of weird stuff this week and TONS of points scored, which means that the fantasy landscape was also crazy. Let’s take a look:
The LoC has been waiting for this week for about a month. The undefeated Russ vs. the super-strong Mike. Scores:
Yep, Russ finally got knocked down via TKO. I say that because Russ opted to roll the dice and keep Arian Foster in his lineup even though he wasn’t sure Foster would play and leave Mike James on the bench. Foster didn’t and Mike won the game by 11 points. Mike James scored 19. Ouch. Now, you might think you see a typo up there, but it’s true: The Blitzkrieg Bops scored 171 points this week. As far as I know, that’s clearly a record score in the HFFL’s history. C’mon man, save some for the rest of us!
Also getting a much needed big win: The Limbs! After 7 straight weeks of losing, the Limbs put together a solid game and beat KRUG. Chris Johnson finally showed up and if that continues, look out for the Limbs in the consolation bracket!
Current LoC Standings:
Big points in the PL too and some movement at the top of the standings! Scores:
The highest score of the week in the PL came from the Chobani Champions, crushing Big Hassle by 83 points! That win moves Cory all the way up to… 10th place. Hmm. It was The Eh Team taking a big fall as the Cieras stormed back on Monday night to grab the win! The new standings leader is Wayne Thompson! Wayne beat the Punchless Outlaws easily this week to improve his win streak to 3 games. But the Furballs are hot on his heels after getting back on track against USFL and scoring 134! Dream Hands notched a narrow win over Carl and has a share of the 4-way tie at 6-3! Crazy!
Current PL Standings:
It seems there were two giant scores in each league this week. Who would it be in the EL? Scores:
It’s the Goldfinches hitting the big number in the EL and crushing the Nerd Herd. Dan used a solid all around effort, but actually left his big hitters on the bench in Zac Stacy (29 pts) and TY Hilton (30 pts). Bob should send him a thank you card for being a good sport. Hyatt was the other big scorer, putting up 132 against Fumblecopter. Hyatt has been quietly sneaking up the standings by winning 4 straight games and is now positioned in the final playoff spot in the EL! Of course, the longest winning streak in the HFFL right now belongs to Chad and his 5 game streak! This week he knocked off the formidable Bulldogs by 22 points. Yikes!
Current EL Standings:
The Blitzkrieg Bops! Yes, Mark forced my hand here by putting up possibly the highest score in the HISTORY of the HFFL at 171 points. Mark also had been starting Nick Foles for a couple of weeks, but dropped him recently. Had he put Foles in this week, there would have been 45 more points to play with! Oh well, he certainly didn’t need them. Fun fact about Mark’s team name: it comes from a Ramones song. Fun fact about Mark: he once played in a Ramones tribute band! Which Ramon was he? ALL OF THEM:
As scary as it is, there are only FOUR games left in the regular season! Also, the trade deadline is November 15th, 1 week from Friday!
This week, the bye teams are Cleveland, Kansas City, New England and the Jets. Thursday night, it’s Washington @ Minnesota! Hooray for shootouts!
Until next week,
