2013 – Week 12

Inline image 1
Another week in the NFL, another set of bizarre finishes. On Thursday, Jimmy Graham scored and dunked on the goalpost, but he must have got a little too hard because…well…

The Giants and Cowboys certainly don’t like each other, but neither team particularly likes playing defense either. I mean, c’mon!
Inline image 1
Speaking of not liking to play defense, did Scott Tolzien really just juke a Vikings defender?
Inline image 2
Well, it was his only good play before getting pulled for Flynn, who orchestrated a TIE with the Purple. Sick.
The once-undefeated Chiefs managed to lose to the Chargers on Sunday, but Andy Reid tried hard to throw a block on Philip Rivers.

We don’t get Calvin Johnson low-lights very often, but this play was very costly as the Lion actually lost to TB!
Inline image 4
And the Sunday Night Thriller saw the Patriots erase a big first half deficit to win in overtime over the Broncos, which pleased Tom Brady. At least, I think that’s what’s going on here:

Wild stuff. Now, in the HFFL, week 12 is Rematch Week! Each team got another crack at their week 1 opponent! Who was able to avenge a loss and who was able to prove their worth? We shall see!

After this week in the LoC, only ONE playoff spot is still up for grabs and FOUR teams have a shot at it. Let’s check the scoreboard:

The first thing that jumps out at you is the absolute COLLAPSE of the Muffins this week! Mike’s team was projected for 93 points and couldn’t even must half of that! In fact, he only had 5 points on his bench! A walk in the park for DiDDy as he clinched a playoff spot and avenged his week 1 loss. Mike is hoping that he got his one terrible game out of his system, while the other playoff teams are hoping this is a sign that the Muffins have run out of gas early. Russ managed to hang on and win his game against Unstoppable, meaning the top seed is his. Tom controls his own destiny now. Win next week and he’s in. Before the Limbs started losing, they opened the season with a win over the Bops. This week, nothing changed. The Limbs had dropped Case Keenum early in the week, only to see the Bops pick him up and start him. Keenum had a bad game and the Limbs got the win, moving out of the basement of the standings! The Limbs defense scored zero points and outscored the vaunted Bops’ KC defense by 3!!! The Assassins took a hard loss to the hot KRUG squad. KRUG will have a hard time making the playoffs, but it’s still possible. Nana Nancy is in with a win over the Masons and Monday Night is also in, thanks to his big win over Ray Rice’s team. The final regular season week will be epic.

In the PL, something amazing is happening. Truly amazing. NO TEAM HAS CLINCHED A PLAYOFF SPOT YET! Seriously. The final week of the regular season will decide it all! Seven teams are within one game of each other. One of those teams will be left out and the rest will be shuffled and dealt. Unreal. Here are this week’s scores:

The first game we must discuss is the Furballs vs. Carl. Carl desperately needed the win to stay in the playoff picture and he got it by a 4 point margin. The Furballs have far more points than any other PL team and they could still miss the playoffs! It’s a 3 game winning streak for Matt and the USFL, who took down last week’s HFFUBTotW the Moneyballers. Wayne could have clinched his playoff spot this week, but he got tripped up by The Eh Team, leaving the door open for the Dream Hands to climb up and tie their record, which they did by beating Chobani. The Cieras still aren’t sure how to put it all together as they got beat by the Big Hassle this week. And finally, the Outlaws are still the most baffling team in the PL, losing to the lowly Dominators this week. I am almost giddy to see what happens in this league next week as all these teams fight for their lives!!

Now in the EL, things are fairly knotted up too. We’ve got two teams who have now clinched spots in the playoffs and 6 teams vying for the final 4 spots. This week had a few surprises to muddy the waters. Scores:

The first thing you’ll notice is the fact that Chad got back on the winning track with a narrow win over the Goldfinches. This was costly loss for the ‘Finches as it drops them to 6-6 and into the a tie with 2 other teams at the cutoff line. The bottom teams in the PL are really embracing the spoiler role! Los Perdadores beat the Bulldogs by 6 to complicate matters for the Lossow boys. H-Ike’s Daddy woke up long enough to score 59 (leaving dozens on the bench) and beat a bye-week strapped Nerd Herd. Ivan Drago tried hard to spoil it for Ihenachos, but came up short when Anquan Boldin decided to catch 2 TDs on Monday night. Team Pacino put himself in prime position to clinch next week by beating Nudibranch for his 4th straight win. And finally, Brett’s team exploded for 125 and a win over Harper’s team. Brett the Threat is poised for a good playoff run if he can keep making good lineup decisions!

Well, look what the cat dragged in! Brett’s Team! Many people assume that Brett named his team after himself. Not so! It’s actually a tribute to his namesame: Bret Michaels! Who knew? Brett is a rookie in the HFFL and has hadnothing but a good time. And with a win this week, he clinched a playoff berth and something to believe in. But every rose has it’s thorn, and Brett’s is Chad’s Sunday Shame. Will the two teams meet for the EL title? I want actionbefore we declare one of these teams to be a fallen angel. Congrats, Brett’s Team!

This is a HUGE week in the HFFL. It’s the final week of the regular season with MANY playoffs spots on the line! Plus, it’s Thanksgiving Week, which means THREE Thursday games and plenty of opportunity to forget to set your lineups with the holiday. But hey, the bye weeks are over! So that will help.

On Thanksgiving Thursday, it’s Packers/Lions, Raiders/Cowboys and Steelers/Ravens!
With so much on the line, you can’t afford to whiff on your lineup this week! When the dust settles, many good teams will be left to fight for their lives in the swirling Toilet Bowl bracket, where only 1 team can survive to play in the LoC next year! If you make the playoffs, you’ve got a 50/50 shot at an LoC ticket since the top 3 teams are promoted.
I guess at this point, my only advice is this:

Until Next Week,
