Two things we know for sure: that weather can make football really fun to watch and that Deshaun Watson is a TD machine. The Texans and Seahawks might have just played the game of the year and Seattle won 41-38. Watson and Wilson dueled all game long and it was amazing. Here are a few of the great plays.
And this one:
Rain was a factor in Falcons vs. Jets as there were some fumble shenanigans.
There was also rain in New England, but there’s no excuse for this play from the Chargers which resulted in a safety.
The the Chargers win on the road? No, but Philip Rivers was still VERY excited that he was able to spike the ball with 1 second left in the game to get one more shot at the win!
And your new favorite player is named JuJu Smith-Schuster. He was semi-famous on social media last week because someone stole his bike. This week, he referenced the incident on the sideline and choreographed a pretty funny TD celebration:
Let’s get into the meat of it, shall we?
The longest streak of the season is broken! Scores:
2-time defending LOC champ The Eh Team started the 2017 season 0-7. This week, he faced the top team in the league and the projections called for a close one. For once, the projections were right! Eric managed to knock off Real United 85-89 to get his first win of the year!!!
That loss by Andrew’s team opened up the door for the teams below him to make their moves. eric’s team had a scare, but he outlasted Comeback Kid and moved to 6-2. The Lucky Bears? trailed after the noon games and then they fired up Watson and rode the lightning to a win over the Limbs. The logjam atop the standings is going to be a fun one as the season goes on. Malicious wants a piece of the pie too, winning over Harper’s team this week. Thrillhouse, however, isn’t so sure and lost to Nerd Herd in week 8 to fall to the 5 spot. And in the basement, RUTS and Favre Out Dude wrestled and Jake got the point.
Current LOC Standings:
Last week, Spencer won his first game and the HFFLUBTotW award. And you know what that means. Scores:
Yep, the letdown for the Dominators was heavy. On the heels of win #1, they put up 41 total points and get beat by Hugginkiss and his 68 points. Ouch. Nate’s team did change their moniker to the Twonders, but they can keep it for another week as their weren’t able to grab a win against Dan’s squad (winners of 3 in a row!). At the top of the standings, the Beta Blockers reign was short as they came up against Hopkins (28) and Richardson (22). And that means that Mr Fox could make his move… and he did. DIDDY fell prey to Wilson (36!) and Luke now owns the #1 spot in the standings! I Might Be Back is back to .500 as he beat Don QuiJulio this week. And we need to talk about DITKA. This week, Greg lost to Nana Nancy, his 4th straight loss. When he was 2-0 at top of the league, he won the HFFLUBTotW award. Since then, he’s gone 1-5.
Current PL Standings:
Polska’s on a rollska and the Matey’s are great-y! Scores:
Look at Polska go! Sam’s squad has the rare multiplier of owning Watson AND Fuller, who combined for 59 points this week! There wasn’t much Jon could have done to counter that one. Sam and surfed the Watson Wave to 4 straight wins and 2nd in the standings!
The Mateys lost last week, but got back on track with 102 points and a win over Marshawn’s Back. That keeps them in the #1 slot for now. Sam and Cory should be on the lookout for Blasto McBlunderbuss though. Blasto is the top scoring team in the EL and beat Hitman this week to keep pace with the top tier! Clint finally found win #2 when he notched a 10 point win over Russ. Mad Scientist was a winner by a narrow margin over Wayne in an entertaining matchup. And the Cieras came close against Sesquipedantic, but close isn’t good enough. Nick came away with a 2 point victory to climb to .500.
Current EL Standings:
I’ve gotta hand it to Eric. He could have closed up shop after a long losing streak to start the season. He could have looked back on the previous THREE SEASONS and gloated about how he’s taken home a trophy each year and just not cared about this season. Instead, he kept fighting and now he’s in the win column!
And now he’s been befallen by the HFFLUBTotW Curse!
The ByePocalypse continues next week! It’s the Bears, Browns, Chargers, Vikings, Patriots and Steelers taking a week off. That’s gonna hurt.
Thursday is Bills/Jets! Get ready for some football-like action!
And the NFL Trade Deadline falls today! Usually it’s pretty lackluster. This year, we’ve already had some fireworks as the Pats traded another backup QB! Jimmy G is heading to San Francisco! Woah. Better hope Brady doesn’t get hurt now!
Oh, and due to “popular demand”, Yahoo has added Calvin Johnson back into the player pool. So there’s that.
Five games left in the regular season! Give it all you’ve got (but not Calvin Johnson)!
Until Next Week,
