I was a low key wild Sunday in the NFL with lots of weird storylines coming together amidst the playoff scenarios.
Everyone loves a snow game and the Chiefs and Broncos played a really good one!
After a Patriots cheating scandal threatened to become a talker this week, the Pats beat the Bengals without incident. But the Bengals did have this crazy catch go their way!
How about some last second wins!? Here the Eagles took the lead and the win late over the ‘Skins to keep their playoff hopes alive.
The Falcons only beat good teams! This razor close Jones TD gave them the upset win over the Niners and shook up the NFC playoff picture big time!
In a VERY strange situation, the Dak Prescott got tongue tied at the coin flip resulting in the refs thinking the Cowboys wanted to give the Rams the ball to start both halves… somehow?!
The refs called New York at halftime and decided to give Dallas the ball to start the 2nd half thanks to a tip from… sideline reporter Erin Andrews!??! What is happening???
And the Packers beat the Bears, but Chicago ALMOST pulled off a miracle razzle dazzle play to have a chance to tie.
And we said a final goodbye to Oakland Coliseum in the most appropriate way. With boos and trash being thrown on the field.
And Dalvin Cook hurt his shoulder, but thanks to some sideline care it’s not thought to be serious.
The HFFL, the Super Bowl matchups are set! Read on!
The big dogs came to play this week in the LOC. And an 11 seed is making his move. Scores:
HEADLINE: Can’t Keep a Good Team Down
There would be no upsets in the Championship bracket in the LOC. Diddy and Comeback Kid both had incredible, high scoring weeks as they advanced to the LOC Super Bowl! Caleb eliminated Paul behind Carson and Drake’s huge games. Jim dispatched Kevin with his tried-and-true formula of McCaffrey and Pats Defense. It’s shaping up to be a really, really good Super Bowl between these two powerhouse teams. Can they sustain this kind of firepower for one more week!?
HEADLINE: Nerd Up
Joe’s team has had a tough year. His team is ultra talented, except when it matters most. This week, he was projected for 102.11 points in his Toilet Bowl game against Bob and only mustered 74.78, which is another tragic chapter in his tortured season. Bob, on the other hand, got the Vikings defense and their 27 points (that’s 4 fumble recoveries, 3 INTs and a TD) going for him! Add in a good Mahomes game and it makes up for leaving Parker’s 19.2 points on his bench! Bob is on to the Toilet Super bowl as an 11 seed!
Updated LOC Brackets:
Upset Alert in the PL! Upset Alert in the PL! Scores:
HEADLINE: Where you Ben all my life?
The playoffs are boring until we get an upset and the PL provided the spice! Down go the Super Domes in a thrashing at the hands of the red hot Ben and his boss team! Ron started the week on Thursday with a bang as Lamar Jackson put up 37.08 points! But Ben’s 1-2 punch of McCaffrey and Ingram was enough to nullify Jackson and the rest of Ron’s squad. So Ben, from the 4 seed, advances to the PL Super Bowl to face Luke the 2 seed in MGKvsBRD, who had all he could handle this week from Tyler! That game came down to Monday night, where Luke managed to hang on! Exciting stuff!
HEADLINE: Use the Force
Down in the PL Toilet bowl, it’s a hard scrabble existence. Unless, that is, you happen to be Chris T and Space Force! Out of nowhere, Chris scored his highest point total of the year and highest since his week 1 game! And it came at the perfect time as it pushes him into the Toilet Super Bowl and keeps him in the hunt for the LOC wild card! And that means Jonah’s storybook finish to the year twas not to be. And in the Wars of the Erics, it’s the Real Eric (H) living up to his name and eliminating Eric M from contention! By rule, Miller will need to change his name.
Updated PL Brackets:
No upsets in the EL, instead we may be getting a matchup for the ages! Scores:
HEADLINE: Collision Course!
Late in the season, two teams emerged as absolute juggernauts in the EL. Now those teams will face each other for all the marbles at the peak of their powers! DITKA and Lambeau Bleeps are crushing it right now, both exceeded 140 points this week and the Bleeps crossed the 160 mark with Kenyon Drake (38.6 points?!) in his lineup! Not much their opponents could do to compete with that. So we’re poised for a real barn burner for the EL Super Bowl and I for one can’t wait to watch the fireworks!
HEADLINE: Good Juju
Zack’s team finished the regular season with a winning record of 7-6, but missed the playoffs due to the total points tie breaker. But perhaps that was all part of the plan? Some of speculated that at some point, the path of least resistance to the LOC is to intentionally drop into the Toilet Bowl and then beat up on those teams! Zack looked oddly out of place in that bracket this week as he crushed Liam and advanced to the Toilet Super Bowl to face Nick and Sesquipedantic Squad in a winner take all matchup for an LOC wild card!
Updated EL Brackets:
Row the boat, Ben (Hur)! Ben’s Boss Team is the lowest seed to advance to his league’s Super Bowl! With an amazing run to finish the season, Ben’s now won TWO playoff games too (including knocking off the #1 seed) and has assured himself an advancement to the LOC next year. But he’s got his sights set on a title to go with that golden ticket! Way to go, Ben!
The NFL likes to throw scheduling curveballs in week 16! This week, there’s NO Thursday game! Instead, we have THREE SATURDAY games to worry about! So check your schedules carefully as you prep! And remember, this is the biggest week of the HFFL season, but it’s also Christmas week! Set your lineups early if you’re traveling!
Just a quick reminder about LOC advancement! If you make the Super Bowl – you make the LOC. So 6 slots are already spoken for! Congrats! The final 6 will be determined next week. The winner of the 3rd place game gets a ticket and the winner of the Toilet Super Bowl gets the final spot!
Also, as a programming note, the HFFL league offices will be closed during some of next week, so expect the final blast of the year to be delayed. Use the time to bask in the glory of your victory or… the knowledge that you did your best in defeat.
And finally, speaking of defeat, this week we bid farewell to a number of teams who have already settled into their final standing. Thanks for a great season, gentlemen!
Until Next Week,
