The NFL had a slate full of divisional games this week, making for some pretty fun matchups and good games overall. Of course, we’ll start with the Vikings/Packers and Lambeau. Dalvin Cook returned to the lineup with a head of steam scoring FOUR TDs!
The Pack still had a chance to get the win at the end, but Rodgers got smoked by reserve defensive player DJ Wonnum!
Another divisional game was the Chargers and Broncos and Drew Lock stole the victory in the closing seconds!
Bills vs. Patriots has changed a bit this season, hasn’t it?
And Steelers/Ravens is ALWAYS a great game and this week was no exception as the Steelers stayed undefeated!
And can we just contract the NFC East at this point?! Putting the Cowboys/Eagles game in primetime was just sad.
The Chiefs played the Jets this week and it went about as well as could be expected.
And the MVP of the week may have been… the wind!? Yeah, games across the league were effected by high winds including this one:
And finally… who punches a helmet?!?? I honestly want to know what the thought process is on that!!
Let’s get into it!
There will be no perfect season this year! Scores:
HEADLINE: Better Late than Never
Down goes Diddy! While Jim escaped the swinging axe of the HFFLUBTotW curse last week, he was struck by the boomerang effect this week against former cursee Caleb! Caleb deployed Dalvin Cook and his 46.6 points to humble the top team and get a share of the best record in the league. This is shaping up to be a real rivalry down the stretch!
HEADLINE: Points Taken
Week 8 was full of underperforming players and only Caleb topped 100 points. Point totals dropped dramatically (unless you had Dalvin) and the low-scoring teams battled it out in the trenches. Tyler and Kevin’s defensive struggle had neither team passing the 80 point mark! Nana Nancy emerged victorious as as Kevin’s Monday night comeback attempt fell short.
Current LOC Standings:
The PL was FULL of close games this week! Scores:
HEADLINE: Here Comes the BOOM
If you wonder which team had Dalvin this week, just look for the highest score. Chances are you found the lucky team. Eric M cracked 100 behind Cook’s big game and rolled over Jake’s team easily. Jake had Russel Wilson who was out there like a one-man army with a bunch of scrubs behind him. So Eric gets the W and climbs another rung up the PL standings into the knot of teams at 5-3!
HEADLINE: The Last Will Be First
It was a surprisingly tight game between first place Mahomeless and last place Taking for Trevor! Liam’s team got a HUGE game from Metcalf and a good game from D. Henry. But Eli got great production from Tyreek and Tannehill. It came down to Monday night to see if Eli could pull out a miracle comeback. Alas, he fell just short as Mike Evans’ game was just good and not great. Still, looks like Taking isn’t giving up just yet!
Current PL Standings:
The EL is about the “Haves” and the “Have Nots” this week. Scores:
The EL is taking up a collection to help out a couple of their teams this week. The Scientists turned on their autopilot prematurely and found themselves getting buried by Unstoppable. But the Frinks!? Well, they at least filled their lineup with active players and still they got let down in a big way. Heading into Monday night with Mike Evans, no Frinks player had scored more than 7 points! Wow. The Chupacabras were quoted as saying “I’LL TAKE IT!!!!”
HEADLINE: Extra Value Meal
Joe D was the lucky Dalvin owner in the EL (getting the upset win over the ducks). Yet it was Spencer with the highest score in the league. That’s because he’s the proud owner of the Seahawks doublestack. Yep, Wilson+Metcalf= 56.84 points this week! In a huge matchup with the Limbs, Spencer needed that production to get the W. The Limbs, on the other hand, are starting to wonder about Zeke Elliott (<8 points per game the last 3 weeks!).
Current EL Standings:
It’s the Frinks! Going against the grain a bit here, but it really bears repeating that Chris’ team historically underperformed this week! And that kind of distinguishing feat warrants recognition! He was projected to score 91.48 points on the week and here’s how it shook out:
And yes, the “other” Scientists would have beaten Chris this week with two players on bye and one on IR in the starting lineup! Plus, adding injury to insult, Garrapolo is now out indefinitely! What a rough week. Hopefully this award soothes the sting!
Looking ahead, we’ve got FIVE regular season games left before playoffs! Keep the pedal down, gentlemen! And keep your attennas UP for league news. Seems like every day brings a story about a positive COVID case on 1 or 2 teams. Stay alert!
Until Next Week,
